Giving HIV/AIDS a red card

The inaugural PlayFC 6-a-Side World Cup Legacy Tournament, held at Upton Park on the 9th of June, was a fantastic event for the participants and the organisers alike.

The tournament secured the services of the greatest referee of all-time, Pierluigi Collina, to officiate, and with the event taking place at a Premier League ground sponsorship and participation followed. The tournament was sponsored by Value Partners and Aurum Funds. The Premier League legends managing teams in the tournament included Kerry Dixon, Peter Bonetti, Nigel Winterburn and Phil Babb.

16 teams from across the city participated in the tournament followed by a dinner, an awards ceremony and a sports auction. Teams taking part comprised investment banks, creative agencies and law firms and is set to raise well in excess of £50,000 for One to One projects in Africa. Based on the success of the One to One Children’s Fund tournament, we are looking to expand the Play Football For Life programme in the North West Provence and also roll it out in the Eastern Cape which is an area of high need.
