Licensing of Psychosocial Counsellors in Kosovo Enabled by One to One Children’s Fund

Since 1999, immediately after the war, One to One Children’s Fund has employed and trained local, Kosovan people to work as trauma counsellors. We have been advocating and petitioning for the licensing of these Psychosocial Counsellors for the past two years and were delighted to hear that the long awaited Administrative Instruction from the Ministry of Health was adopted. Psychosocial counsellors can now apply for a license, This not only means that counsellors can practice and that their qualification is validated by the Ministry of Health, but also that the profession of psychosocial counsellor is now a fully recognised profession in Kosovo. BBC Radio 4 Charity Appeal

We are delighted that the BBC has chosen us to be one of the charities that will have an appeal on BBC Radio this December 2012. A few weeks ago we attended the first exciting briefing meeting at Broadcasting House to find out what we have to do. We are now in the process of finding the right speaker who can tell our story. This is a very exciting opportunity for us . This is the first time we have been chosen for an appeal, selected because of the work we do in the field that makes such a difference to the lives of the thousands of children we support. This appeal will generate much needed income for the charity but will also raise the profile of the charity to a wider audience. We will keep you posted. Listen to our BBC Radio 4 Appeal on 2nd December 2012 at 7:55am and 21:26pm.
